Our Mission

At Little Explorers Academy, we work to create an environment that encourages collaboration, communication, critical thinking and confidence in the children of our community.

We are play-based.
At Little Explorers Academy, we believe that play is the work of childhood. Play is so important that in 1990, the United Nations recognized play as the right of every child. Children will use the classroom centers to engage with their classmates and build an understanding of the world around them. Teachers will rotate classroom materials and set up the learning environment so that the children engage with activities that encourage choice, problem solving and discovery.

We are Reggio inspired.
Inspired by the Reggio Emelia approach, we believe that children cultivate their own learning using the environment around them. Children will work in small groups with each other and with their teacher to ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging in the school. The classroom environment, projects, activities and explorations will be dictated by the children’s interests.

Our Owners

Anita and Rene

Anita & Rene Arguello are the owners of Little Explorers Academy! The Arguello’s have been married for 28 years and have three children and 3 grandchildren. Anita has been a public school teacher with Miami Dade County for 20+ years. In her time as a teacher she has taught in the primary grades. Currently, she teaches kindergarten! Her expertise in the primary grades has allowed her to train the teachers at Little Explorers Academy in preparing children for kindergarten. Rene has worked in customer satisfaction for 30 years. For fun, they go boating on the weekends and spend time with their grandchildren. Their goal is to create a school that your child will love going to day in and day out and you will feel secure and confident in leaving your child.

Amanda Oyarzun, Little Explorers Academy's director, was a public school teacher for eight years before joining us! She earned her bachelors degree in Elementary Education and later earned her masters degree in Early Childhood Education and Development. Amanda has experience working with children of all different backgrounds and loves giving children the opportunity to learn through play and nature.
